The story of how the tennis bracelet got its name

Tennis bracelets used to be called eternity bracelets until 1978. American tennis legend Chrissie Evert was playing a match in the early rounds of the US Open and wore a diamond and gold bracelet. It broke and fell onto the court. Play was stopped so she could find it!

Once that happened, it was pretty hard to ignore the accessory—a jewelry piece that managed to put the entire U.S. Open on pause. From this moment on, diamond bracelets became coined "tennis" bracelets!

Thank you to Segner's Jewelers for donating the tennis bracelet!
