About The Event

The Fredericksburg Tennis Association (“FTA”) Board of Directors (“Board”) has approved a capital campaign to “step up” and modernize aging area tennis courts and to add much-needed tennis courts to existing Fredericksburg High School or Lady Bird tennis facilities. To this end, area tennis facilities have the following capital needs:

PHASE 1

Fredericksburg High School: LED lights and poles for four lower tier courts (high school has only 4 lighted courts). Preliminary Estimated Cost: $18,000- $20,000.

New lighted tennis courts (4) at current FHS court location.. Preliminary Estimated Cost: $320,000- $400,000

Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Courts: Upgrade lights for all courts to LED. Estimated Cost $ 16,000-$20,000.

The Fredericksburg Texas area has a critical need for additional tennis courts. This need is evident through the lack of court space to adequately serve secondary schools and related school tournaments, host large scale tennis tournaments such as USTA Challengers, and to support tennis-lesson-giving professionals. Moreover, the existing Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Courts, though functional, have significant cracking issues on Court 2 that renders the court subpar and possibly a liability concern.

Any USTA (United State Tennis Association) grant funding for court and amenity construction will be vigorously pursued, as well as any available or allocable City or FISD funds. Any such funds received or pledged will reduce the aforementioned estimated costs.
