Sunday July 30th marked the conclusion of the 32nd annual Dr. Pepper/Tennis Outlet Junior tennis tournament played at the Fredericksburg High School and Lady Bird Municipal Park tennis courts.  The three day tournament saw scorching temperatures and scorching tennis competition that included 83 singles participants and 41 doubles team from Fredericksburg and surrounding communities.   Fredericksburg area youngsters showed great promise by winning close singles final battles in both the Boys and Girls 12 & under categories.  Jack Stephens bested Reid Ortega of San Antonio, 2-6, 7-5, 10-8 while Anna Terry defeated Lucy Rochat of Mason, 6-4, 3-6, 10-1.  Elliot Jordon of Fredericksburg won the Boys 12 & under consolation round, while Katy Tedder of Mason won the Girls 12 & under consolation round.

The tournament crowned four multiple event winners.  David Lindsay of Fredericksburg with Fredericksburg’s Benjamin Sparks won the Boys 14 & under doubles and with Fredericksburg’s Olivia Alvarez won the 14 & under Mixed doubles event.  Wimberley entrants Landon Kirchner (Boys 16 & under) and Sydney Wright (Girls 16 & under) won their respective singles titles and then combined together to win the 18 & under Mixed Doubles title.   Olivia Alvarez also won the Girls 14 & under doubles title with Morgan Sales of Bourne.
